WordPress is the world’s most popular platform for websites and it’s designed to be user-friendly. But it is so versatile and powerful that training can be helpful to get you going quickly.  That’s where our one-day workshop comes in.

Whether you’ve just launched a new WordPress website, or you’ve had your website for years and want to get more comfortable working with it, we’ve got you covered with this training.

You’ll learn:

I took a 2 day course with Alison… highly recommend it!

Pedals and Paddles
  • How to log in and check that your current password is secure enough.
  • How to edit existing pages.
  • How to create new pages and put them into the website’s menu.
  • How to format text.
  • How to upload, crop and resize images.
  • How to back up your website’s content.
  • What a widget area is and how to work with it.
  • How to upload PDF files and link to them from web pages.
  • How to embed YouTube videos into a page of your website.
  • How to link to other websites.

Time permitting, we’ll also discuss how to drive traffic to your website through email newsletters and social media.

While there are plenty of options for online WordPress courses, it can be difficult to find in-person training where you can just raise your hand and ask when you’ve got a question. This workshop fills that gap for the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia.

Where and When?

The workshop runs from 10:30 am till 6:30 pm, with a one hour break for lunch.  Most of our workshops take place in Sechelt, but some are  held in Lower Gibsons.

The next workshop is scheduled for Thursday May 12th, 2016 and will be held at Community Futures in downtown Sechelt. We have a limited number of spots still available. If you wish to register, just drop us an email using our contact page.

How Much?

The workshop costs $155 + GST per person. Payment is due prior to the workshop, in order to reserve your space.

What To Bring?

You’ll need to bring:

  1. macbook-air-all-faded-and-stuffA laptop that you are familiar with enough to connect to a Wifi hot spot.
  2. A mouse.
  3. Your laptop’s power cable.
  4. Lunch, if you don’t want to eat out.
  5. Any text and/or digital images that you’d like to put on your website. (If you don’t have anything that imminently needs to go online, we’ll provide some photos you can practice with.)
  6. Any eyeglasses you’ll need to read both your computer and the overhead projector comfortably.

We’ll provide coffee, tea and snacks.

Prerequisites

You’ll need to be comfortable using your laptop and connecting it to a WiFi hot spot.

You should be familiar with how to open multiple tabs at a time in your browser (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer or Safari) and move back and forth between them.

You’ll need to provide us with administrative access to your WordPress website prior to the workshop day so that we can check that there is nothing broken or unusual about your WordPress site that would prevent things from going smoothly during the workshop.

Does this sound like the training you’ve been waiting for?
